Sunday Shakedown - Sound Healing with Meg Weldon, The Pudding, Tattoos, and More!!

Hello! Welcome to my weekly newsletter. Every Sunday, I share a few things that I've been getting my hands on. Hope you enjoy!

Sound Healing with Meg Weldon

I am a strong believer that everyone has their own methods of escapism – something that helps to distract us from the crazy, sometimes unpleasant, stressful realities of life. It could be meditation, eating tacos, drinking bourbon, painting wildflowers or so many alternatives, but for me it’s live music. There’s just something about hearing your favorite song played live, with an unparalleled amount of energy in the air and your best friends by your side. It’s called “Sound Healing.”

There is plenty of research out there that proves music positively affects the autonomic nervous system that, in turn, improves our mental well-being and physical health (check it out for yourself, here). Not only this, but music has the potential to connect people in an extremely unique and powerful way. For those of you that don’t know me, I went to college with Stephen at the University of Wyoming and moved to Boston, MA upon graduating to further my career in Public Relations. You can imagine how hard it was for me to find my groove in a new, huge city. After months of feeling out of place, I went to a local show and met my people, the people I now can’t live without: my Rage Family. They changed my perspective on life, and taught me to always be kind and do what makes the heart happy. We live in an interesting and sometimes frustrating society (don’t get me started), but I’ve learned it’s most important to focus energy on the good, rather than dwelling on the bad. Life is too short to be sad.

Sometimes it’s hard to escape some negative aspects of life, but whenever you’re not feeling yourself, throw on your favorite song and dance – it’s the simple things in life J. If you need some musical inspiration, feel free to check out my latest playlist on SoundCloud: Fall 2018.

Why the tech sector may not solve America’s looming automation crisis

5% of America’s employees may be replaced by robots, and transitioning them to become software developers seems to be a popular solution. Here’s why it might be misguided.

Go ahead and nerd yourself out with this website! The Pudding, was recommended to me by my friend Kale. The way that they write articles and present data along the way is incredibly compelling and easily digestible. The team is comprised of a few people attempting to produce meaningful dialogue on various topics, that aim to escape the media echo chamber that we are all get caught up in somethimes. Check it out!

I got more work done on my arm this week. Shoutout to Jordan Mitchell for absolutely killing it! I've been waiting for months to get an appointment with him and am excited to finish off the rest of the sleeve with him over the next few months. If you'd like to get something done from him, be prepared to wait 9-10 months for an open appointment.

"Did someone say......WALK?!?!"

How we look at Sam when she says that it's time for bed

Zoo - Russ
Russ has been one of my favorite rappers for the last few years and he just dropped an album that is absolutely fire.
I've had this thing on repeat for the entire week and haven't gotten tired of it yet.
I'm sharing one of his songs on the album called 'Voicemail.' It's about him trying to talk with God but he never is able to get a hold of him. Here is my favorite quote from the song:

Family issues make success bitter sweet
Sometimes a cold shoulder is the only way to deliver heat

“Happiness has more to do with where you are heading than where you are.”
