Book Review: Tribe of Mentors

It took me a while to finish this book, but I don’t consider that a bad thing. My wife and I decided to digest this 600 page book by reading one ‘Mentor’ interview to each other before we fell asleep. Similar to Tools of Titans, finishing this book is truly an accomplishment. Packed with wisdom and thought-provoking practices, this is worth every single penny.

Tim Ferriss has become the ideal model for entrepreneurs like myself. He's built his brand on hacking everything from sleep to sexual performance. He's someone that is referenced during intense debates and motivational pep talks with friends and family members. This book is a product of his diverse network full of the "best of the best" in business, sports, entertainment, and other fields….

By Kale Donnelly

Kale, one of the site’s main contributors, opens up about his life as a young father. He walks the reader through his initial doubts about the ability to be a good parent. Spoiler alert— he overcame them and is an amazing father. Soak this in and learn from his experiences. I hope you enjoy reading about his story as much as I did!

2038: An Intelligencer Podcast

This podcast explores eight different visions of how we can expect to live in two decades. Each episode explores subject areas from business to technology to politics to climate science and beyond.

My favorite episode is Episode Three, which explores the Internet of Things(IoT) with Paul Ford. Below is a little snip to give you a taste. Enjoy!

“In the year 2038, computers won’t matter any more, that’s because they’ll be everywhere — small and cheap embedded in everything. And all the little rituals I do to get through my day will be unnecessary — like swiping a MetroCard or buzzing into the office. I might still use a desktop computer, but mostly I’ll ask my earbuds to play music, and those earbuds will also serve as a wallet. Or maybe I like carrying a wallet, that’s fine, too — it’ll have a little screen on it. My shoes will talk to my earbuds and the song will speed up if I walk faster. I’ll be just a little walking cloud platform with lots of hard drive space, all talking to the internet.”

Sunday Quote

“First, look things up. Humans are cursed with the deadly combination of a highly fallible memory and an over confidence in how much they know. Out social networks, traditional and electronic, multiply the errors, so that much of our conventional wisdom consists of friend-of-a-friend legends and factoids that are too good to be true. As Mark Twain said, ‘The trouble with the world is not that people know too little, but that they know so many things that aren’t so.’ Actually, he didn’t say that—I looked it up.”
